Preaching

Paul's exhortation to "Preach the Word" is preceded by a confident assertion of the divine authorship, absolute authority and profitable application of the Scriptures. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Being convinced of this truth, we are committed to the regular proclamation of God's Word when we gather as a church. We are called to grow in our love for God and for one another. It is the Scriptures that reveal to us the God who is worthy of our affections and the manner by which we love one another and the world around us. The Scriptures are sufficient for all that God requires for us to believe and do and is, therefore, to be believed, obeyed, and trusted. As God’s people hear, believe and obey the Word, they are equipped as disciples of Christ and made effective witnesses for the Gospel.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

2 Timothy 4:1–2
